About

Hi, I’m a writer living in Boston.

I’m a book critic and essayist for various magazines. I’m also a PhD ABD in philosophy at Boston College, where I’m writing a dissertation about ethics and narrative.

Every morning with my coffee, I spend an hour thinking on paper, and over the course of several days this thinking coalesces into a blog post. I set no conditions on these posts in advance, but they have a way of clustering around my enthusiasms and hobbies: speculative fiction; translated books; biographies of writers, philosophers, and revolutionaries; the histories of photography, socialism, and feminism; the philosophy of literature; and the role of the unconscious in creativity.

If you’d like to chat with me or commission my work, you may contact me on twitter @SolemnPhiz, or by email at rmdmphilosopher at gmail dot com.
